Meet Riverland Employee Michelle Murzyn!

Michelle grew up in the Twin Cities area and graduated from Irondale High School. She began her banking career as a teller in high school, and has been in banking ever since. She has had a variety of jobs within the banking industry, and currently, she is the Branch Manager at Riverland’s Northeast Minneapolis office. Michelle feels fortunate to live and work in a community that she loves!

Q. What do you like best about working at Riverland?

A. I enjoy working at a community bank that supports the neighborhood, and I have a great group of coworkers.

Q. What do you like to do in your free time for fun?

A. I enjoy biking, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my boyfriend, my son, and my friends. I am also an avid bird watcher. I love spending time gardening with my son and visiting the Como Park Conservatory and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. In the summer, you may find me enjoying a craft beer on a patio at a local taproom.

Q. What is your favorite book or movie?

A. There are so many to choose from! I am a huge Harry Potter fan and have been lucky enough to visit Harry Potter World in Universal Studios. It’s amazing! I also love Marvel movies! Being in a book club for over six years has afforded me the opportunity to read many books. Two of my favorites are The Book Thief and A Man Called Ove. We also have two great local authors right here in the Twin Cities that I am a big fan of, Brian Freeman and Matt Goldman.

Q. In what ways are you involved in the community?

A. I have been a member of the Midway Lions for seven years. I enjoy volunteering and giving back to my community. I especially enjoy serving meals and sorting food at places such as Second Harvest Heartland, Every Meal, Feed My Starving Children, and Keystone Community Services.

Q. What is a cause or topic you are passionate or curious about?

A. I am a cat mom and love animals. I am passionate about the fair and ethical treatment of animals, and I promote adopting from local shelters vs. shopping for pets.

Q. How do you positively contribute to customers’ experience at Riverland?

A. My goal is to have every client I help, whether on the phone or in person, walk away saying “Wow, that was great customer service!”
