Kelli, Riverland Bank’s AVP/Cash Management Officer, has lived in Minnesota her whole life. She currently resides in the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul, but was born in Columbia Heights and moved to St. Paul at age 10. After graduating from Central High School, Kelli attended St. Kate’s University and had a couple of retail jobs before finding herself in banking. Starting as a part-time teller, Kelli worked her way up through several banking positions, eventually landing in Cash Management where she is today!

Q. What do you like best about working at Riverland?

A. The workplace culture here is so fun! Everyone has a great sense of humor and is happy to be at work every day, making for a very motivating environment. It is also a very inclusive culture. I feel heard at meetings, my opinions are respected, and my contributions are celebrated, which makes me look forward to contributing to the big picture.

Q. What do you like to do in your free time?

A. I read a lot! Last year, I set a reading goal of 35 books; the year before that, I read 50! I also paint, spend time with my children, and watch a lot of movies.

Q. What are your favorite books and movies?

A. I have many favorite books: The Bell Jar, The Giver, The Joy Luck Club, A Place Where the Sea Remembers, Elsewhere, Hatchet. My favorite movies are Cast Away and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Q. In what ways are you involved in the community?

A. I am a board member at my daughter’s preschool in St. Paul and have been involved there for over eight years. I also support Joseph’s Coat, a store in the West Seventh neighborhood of St. Paul that services those in need by providing clothing and home items at no cost. Since joining Riverland, I have volunteered at Second Harvest Heartland and Neighborhood House, and look forward to helping plan our community service events during Minnesota Bankers Association’s Community Impact Month.

Q. What is your favorite quote?

A. “People will always have an opinion; trust yourself and go with your gut.”

– My grandma, written in a card after my first child was born.

Q. How do you positively contribute to customers’ experiences at Riverland?

A. I try to bring my best self to work every day. Whether it’s through email, phone, in-person meetings, etc., I always try to put all my effort into making sure the customer is satisfied with the result. I also smile when I talk on the phone – I believe you can hear it through the headset.

Q. What else would you like to share about yourself?

A. I am always on the lookout for a good book recommendation. If you have one, send it my way!
